Air quality monitoring is carried out at designated locations around FGM to assess potential impacts on air quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
FGMs extensive air quality monitoring program consists of:
Gaseous emissions and odour are also measured from underground ventilation shafts/outlets.
Monitoring results are reviewed to assess local/regional air quality conditions, identify potential mine-related sources of dust, and inform additional air quality management measures, if required.
Fosterville Gold Mine’s air quality limits are set in accordance with ERS (EPA, 2021) and Publication 1961 (EPA, 2022).
Air quality exceedances are investigated and reported to the regulators (Earth Resources Regulation and Environment Protection Authority Victoria).
FGM’s air quality monitoring results are reported at quarterly Environment Review Committee meetings.
