To continue being an active part of the community, Fosterville Gold Mine has prepared the Sustained Operations Project (SOP) Environment Effects Statement (EES).
Under the Environment Effects Act 1978 (EE Act), the Minister for Planning determined that an Environment Effects Statement (EES) is required for the SOP.
The EES process provides for the analysis of potential effects on environmental assets and the means of avoiding, minimising and managing adverse effects.
The EES process is managed by the Department of Transport and Planning.
View the EES documentationDuring 2024 the Fosterville Gold Mine Sustained Operations Project (SOP) reached two significant milestones, including Public Exhibition and the Public Inquiry Panel Hearing.
Following the public hearing process, which concluded on 13 December 2024, the inquiry panel will now prepare a comprehensive report based on the hearings and submissions, which will be submitted to the Minister for Planning.
The Minister’s assessment of the Project will make recommendations about whether the environmental effects of the Project are acceptable and will inform the statutory decisionmakers responsible for issuing environmental approvals for the Project.
We will continue to keep you informed as we move through the final stages of the EES process.
