Heathcote SES

As part of the Community Grants Program, Fosterville Gold Mine (FGM) is pleased to have supported the Heathcote SES to purchase four new rechargeable battery-powered light towers to replace their old less efficient and environmentally limited equipment. 

The Heathcote SES unit gets called to help the community at all times of the day and night, which means effective lighting is critical to successful and safe operations.

“Some of our current lighting is 240v which requires noisy, polluting generators and because of the need for extension cords, there is a limit to where we can put them and the cords create trip hazards in the dark,” explained Peter Duncan, Deputy Controller of Operations at Heathcote SES. 

“The new lights will give us the flexibility to put lights exactly where they are needed during rescue and storm operations … this is especially crucial during road crash rescue callouts where time is of the essence and quickly deployed lighting can help with patient care during rescue operations,” Peter continued.

“FGM was delighted to award Heathcote SES with a grant to purchase the lighting towers, with the project strongly aligned to both the Community and Sustainability pillars of our social responsibility strategy,” said Trudi Jackson, Senior Community Advisor for FGM.

 FGM recognises and sincerely appreciates the service of the 28 volunteers at Heathcote SES who give of their time to provide emergency assistance to minimise the impact of emergencies and strengthen the community’s capacity to plan, respond and recover when they occur.
