New facilities launched at Goornong CFA ahead of bushfire season

On Sunday 3 November 2024, Goornong CFA held an open day to celebrate exciting upgrades to their facilities, including an additional vehicle shed, driveway extension and a new water tank.

Fosterville Gold Mine were able to fund these upgrades for the Goornong CFA Brigade as a result of our CFA Bushfire Readiness Grants Program, which was made available to CFA’s in the region, following the devastating bushfire season experienced in Summer 2019/20.

"This project has been a long time coming due to numerous unforeseeable delays, however, we are thrilled that it has finally been completed and is already making a big difference for our brigade," explained Jamie Francis, Captain of the Goornong CFA.

“Agnico Eagle Australia and Fosterville Gold Mine are proud to be supporting the CFAs around the region, like the Goornong brigade, which are selflessly run by passionate teams of volunteers,” said Lance Faulkner, FGM General Manager.

The open day was a family friendly event, which gave local families the opportunity to visit their local CFA, see the new facilities and get to know some of the dedicated people who drop everything and come to others’ rescue when the need arises.
