Low Frequency Noise Community Update
Fosterville Gold Mine received notification today (29/05/2023) that the EPA Prohibition Notice 00001711-2 relating to the southern surface ventilation system fans has been revoked, confirming that compliance with the notice requirements has been achieved.
Since December 2021, FGM has progressed a program of investigations and completed modifications to minimise the risk of Low Frequency Noise (LFN) from the southern surface ventilation system so far as reasonably practicable.
The restrictions to fan speed between midnight and 6.00am have now been removed and FGM will resume normal operation of the surface ventilation fans effective immediately.
Over the coming weeks FGM will engage with the workforce to plan the transition to resume normal underground operations.
