JULY 2024
The very fresh (ie. cold!) air, didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of a group of intrepid bush lovers, who headed out to Axedale Kindergarten’s “Bush Kinder” site – which Fosterville Gold Mine has leased to the kinder at no cost – on Sunday 28 July to plant trees in recognition of National Tree Day. Members of the Fosterville Gold Mine team were thrilled to team up with Longlea and District Landcare Group and Axedale Kindergarten staff and families, to be a part of the fun!
We shouldn’t need an excuse to plant trees, but Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, which was established in 1996, has become a popular opportunity for nature lovers to don their favourite pair of wellies and join around 300,000 Australians aiming to plant one million trees in a day.
And so far, the initiative has been a huge success, with around 27 million trees planted to date. Now that’s impressive teamwork!
Thanks to Axedale Kinder and the Longlea and District Landcare Group for inviting us to join them for the day … and a special thanks to Rise & Grind in Axedale for providing hot coffee and morning tea to keep spirits high!
