Low frequency noise community update

On 17 June, 2022 we ran an out-of-session Environment Review Committee meeting at Fosterville Gold Mine for surrounding landholders to provide an update regarding our Low Frequency Noise (LFN) investigations and program.

The information presented at this meeting included:

  • Previous and ongoing investigations into LFN at Fosterville Gold Mine.
  • Regulatory process and the status of remedial notices relating to LFN.
  • Current LFN abatement controls/modifications implemented at Fosterville Gold Mine.
  • Future LFN abatement controls and/or modifications at Fosterville Gold Mine and the ongoing program of works.

The meeting ran in accordance with the existing ERC Terms of Reference and was chaired by an independent chairperson. ERC members were invited to attend, including representatives from the Environment Protection Authority Victoria, Earth Resources Regulation, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, City of Greater Bendigo, Goulburn Murray Water, and current ERC community representatives.

Local community members were invited to attend as observers with an opportunity to raise questions at the conclusion of the presentations.
