On Wednesday 4 October at 10.21 am Fosterville Gold Mine registered a 2.4 ML mine induced seismic event.
The location of the event was approximately 1.0 km below the surface and 68m east of the underground mine workings.
Mine induced seismicity is a common phenomenon experienced across the underground mining industry and is caused by the redistribution of rock stress underground.
