APRIL 2025

Final decision pending

Our Sustained Operations Project (SOP) has reached another milestone in the Environment Effects Statement (EES) process.

The public panel hearing, which concluded on 13 December 2024, provided a comprehensive platform for examining all aspects of the proposed project and allowed a diverse range of voices to engage in thorough discussion from experts, representatives and community members.

Following the conclusion of the public hearing that was held both in Melbourne and here in Bendigo, the Inquiry Panel submitted their report to the Minister for Planning on 24 February 2025. The Inquiry’s report consolidated the evidence, presentations, all the submissions received and plays a crucial role in the decision-making process.

Minister considering panel findings

The report is currently with the Minister, who will consider the Inquiry Panel’s findings and recommendations as part of the final assessment of the EES and the determination of if the Sustained Operations Project can proceed with acceptable environmental effects.

This stage represents a significant milestone in the project’s progression through the rigorous EES process. The outcome will be pivotal in shaping the future operations of Fosterville Gold Mine and our ongoing role in the Greater Bendigo region.

We appreciate the engagement and diverse feedback we have received throughout the entire EES process. Our commitment to open communication and transparency remains unwavering and we will continue to provide updates and information as the project moves through its final stages.

Our community team is always available to address any questions about our day-to-day operations. We are proud to be an active part of the community and look forward to continuing our dialogue with you.
