FGM to raise embankment height of TSF1

In accordance with Fosterville Gold Mine’s commitment to keeping the community informed, please see below information relating to the planned works to raise the embankment height of Tailings Storage Facility 1 (TSF1).

TSF1 is located within the northern section of mining licence MIN5404 (see map below).

The construction and future raises of the TSF1 embankment were included as part of FGM’s initial work plan approved in 2004. The works will increase the storage capacity and the height of TSF1 by an additional 2.5m. ?The TSF1 landform height will remain lower than the neighbouring natural landforms, including Mount Sugarloaf Range.

Works on the TSF1 embankment raise are expected to commence in late Q2 2022 and will occur over a period of approximately 6 months. Construction activities (i.e. earth works) will be limited to day shift only, between 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday, and 7:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays.

Fosterville Gold Mine will continue routine and targeted environmental monitoring (including noise, water and air quality monitoring) to assess and manage any potential impacts throughout the duration of the TFS1 embankment raise.

For your information, please also find enclosed a fact sheet with additional information regarding FGM’s operation and management of tailing storage facilities.
