Yesterday, we welcomed Djaara Cultural Educators for a DUMAWUL Change of Season Ceremony at Fosterville Gold Mine.

The team had the opportunity to learn more about Djaara cultural knowledge and how changes in in the local environment signal the Change of Seasons being plants for bush tucker, cycles in nesting, weather patterns and other indications. These recognised patterns have guided Djaara People in nourishment, farming, harvesting and when caring for Djandak (Country) for many generations. This season we welcome the Boyn (bread) and Lowan (Mallee Fowl) Time. 

The Smoking Ceremony as part of the gathering invited employees and partners to come together and take part in the experience for cleansing and healing.
